How to Make Paper Look Old

Posted on Juni 28, 2008 - by admin, in category Tips

Creating paper that looks old is not as difficult as you may think. All it takes is some common household items and a little time and practice.

Steps in Soaking Method :

  1. Boil water and make black/brown tea or coffee
Get a container that is a little bigger than the piece of paper you are using, like a 9×13″ (22 cm x 33 cm) baking pan.
Pour about 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) of tea/coffee into the bottom of the container.
  2. Put your piece of paper into the liquid. Gently sink it to make sure all of the paper is underneath. (You can also brush the tea onto the paper with a paintbrush.)
  3. Keep the paper in the tea/coffee for about 10 seconds. Don’t let it sit too long or it will become soggy and hard to handle.
  4. Take the paper out of the liquid and put it on a piece of card to blot off the excess water.
  5. Let the paper dry on a flat surface. It may curl a bit, which only adds to the old look.
  6. Bake in the microwave oven for about 5 minutes until it is crumpled But there are conditions to this method. When done to a printed paper, the words will smear and it is best worked when it is written out in marker pen

When using a typed paper, Take tea bags, dip them in hot water then squeeze out the excess and bloch. If the tea bag rips just get another tea bag!
